A few pictures to give an impression of the evening:

The mission of ARM speaks about helping children and youth to become a next generation of leaders to build a better Uganda. Every year EduCare contributes some money to help talented young people to study and start making a difference!

At this weeks charity dinner, we could welcome 88 people, who all donated money for the five selected students. We are very thankful for the help of four local businesses, they helped to organise the evening and invited many (business) relations.

Netwerk Ondernemende Onderwijskundigen

NetOO is a Dutch organisation comprised of independant educational specialists. We operate from the Netherlands and our 55 members work in all fields of education. Each of the members has their own company, but as a group we like to participate in a handful of projects with real impact on people.

Last year one of our members suggested the AEBV project. So we had a small delegation discussing the goals and setup of the project with Educare. We were all very enthousiastic. For us the AEBV project is a chance to make our educational expertise available to Wilber, Abby and their staff. In doing so, we hope to assist in creating great learning experiences for the students ánd the teachers. And naturally, we do this free of charge!

We are still working on the details of our contribution and will come back to that on a later post. In the meantime; meet the NetOO people…

We desire to develop the curriculum and lessons as is agreed upon in the project, but we are also working on a very intensive cooperation. Africa Renewal Ministries will let her team from the Education Department be involved, which will build their experience and knowledge. Hopefully many projects can benefit from this collaboration!

First step is to start collecting information which is already available. We need to find out together which experience is already present and what we need to work on. At the moment we are also establishing some technical tools (via internet) which will help us to work together efficiently.

During the development you may find messages from the whole team to keep you informed about what’s happening!

Diana Davidse

One of them is feeding the animals. Feeding costs are the highest running costs in our business plan, making financial calculations difficult due to changes food prices through out the world. We have therefore tried to find out whether we can grow more fodder crops ourselves.

Moringa might be promising in this case. Some Moringa species (mainly Moringa Oleifera) are extremely useful due to their high amounts of vitamins, minerals and protein. The plant is easy to grow, even on poor soil and grows very quickly (upto 3 meters in one year under good conditions).

At this time we don’t know the exact nutritional value of the Moringa that is already growing at Bethany Village, but we might have some interesting  crop here to enable us to lower our food prices. I am sorry that I can not present pictures of this plant to you now, but it will be easy to find them on the internet.

Jacob Jan Noorlander

Last month I (Jacob Jan Noorlander) have been visiting the AEBV project as part of larger trip to Uganda. I will be one of the two Educare staff members dealing with this project in the next years, so in that case it was great to visit the place even before the start of the project. It has been a good stay and very motivating to see an enthusiastic group of agriculturist, teachers and staff members ready to start working on this ambitious project.

Thank for standing with us in prayer and giving as the Lord takes us through the journey of bringing hope to those that had lost hope by the establishment of Agricultural Education in Uganda.

Having been in a country where Agricultural Vocation Education is not well developed, we hope that this project will bring hands-on experience to the beneficiary children that can not attain University Education.

This will give them hope that they can live a successful life and therefore be responsible citizens even if they did not excel with higher Education. We are all very excited with the initiation of the project, seeing our dream almost getting to pass, is beyond our understanding!

This stage wouldn’t have been reached if it was not the continuous courage and counsel from all of you especially the Educare team. We are now a well prepared vessel ready to be used in a mighty way.

It’s our prayer that more people get involved to finish the last puzzle of resource mobilization, and join us to fight for a common cause of bringing hope to the hopeless.

Wilber Muyomba

Goals for this visit are the evaluation of another project that is run with ARM (the AIDS Education project) and the preparations for the take-off of the AEBV project.

We signed a partnership contract with Impulsis, a donor from The Netherlands, for half of the total budget!

This is really a big step forward for us and they also offer us some good advice on how enhance the quality of the project too.

Impulsis is an initiative of the three Dutch organisations Edukans, ICCO and Kerk in actie. It aims on helping small organizations financially, with advise, training and also through the networks they have as bigger and longer existing organisations.
